Upcoming Events

  • April 27, 2019 (8 a.m.): 2nd annual Highlander Half Marathon and 5K (Radford, VA). Presented by Carilion Clinic and hosted by Radford University Athletics and the Radford University Athletic Foundation. All race proceeds will be used to support the Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarship aid to our sixteen varsity sports. | Web site.

  • April 27, 2019 (9:30 a.m.): 12th Annual Bob Duncan Memorial 5K (Virginia Tech cross country course, Blacksburg). In April or May of each year, a 5K race is held on the Virginia Tech Cross Country Course to honor Bob Duncan, a beloved professor who passed away in May of 2007. | Web site.

  • April 27, 2019 (9:00 a.m.): March of the Titans 5K (Hidden Valley High School — 5000 Titan Trail — Cross Country Course ). Support the Hidden Valley High School Band. | Web site (about half way down the page)

  • May 4, 2019 (9 a.m.): 21st Annual New River Trail — Dr. Ed Dannelly 10K Run and 5K walk (Galax, VA). Co-Sponsored by Galax Parks and Recreation Department and the New River Trail State Park. | Web site.

  • May 4, 2019: GATEWAY 50K & 25K (15 Miler) (Blacksburg, VA). An ultra-distance event in Blacksburg, Virginia. Come experience the allure of Jefferson National Forest and Brush Mountain by way of the challenging 50K (start time 7:00 AM) or the introductory 25K (8:30 AM). | Web site.

  • May 5, 2019 (Sunday, 1:00 p.m.): Brewser Boot Camp Run (Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, 1600 Innovation Drive, Blacksburg, VA). Join us for the 2nd Annual Brewser Boot Camp Run, a 2-mile trail run with boot camp stations along the way. All proceeds go to two local women fighting cancer. | Web site

  • June 1, 2019 (8:30 p.m.): Pulaski Yankees 5K (race begins and ends at Calfee Park)). Winners will be recognized on field prior to our June 23 game against the Bluefield Blue Jays, with overall winners getting the opportunity to throw out a first pitch. Proceeds from this 5K will benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southwest Virginia. | Web site

  • September 20, 2019 (11 a.m.): 6th Annual Marcus Ford 5K Run/Walk Celebration (Huckleberry Trail behind the New River Valley Mall). | Race information and online registration link.

    Marcus Ford graduated from Christiansburg High School in 2007 and from James Madison University in 2011. He accepted a job in his senior year in college with Grant Thornton as a consultant in Alexandria, VA. Sadly, Marcus and his family found out while he was a junior in college that he had a hereditary heart disease called CPVT. Marcus passed away on March 17, 2012 in Arlington, VA, from this disease. Monies raised from the Marcus Ford Annual Run/Walk SKs will go to his memorial scholarship, The Marcus Allen Ford Memorial Scholarship, given each Spring at Christiansburg High School to a graduating senior who exenplifies the person that Marcus was to everyone he met. | Marcus Ford Web site.

  • October 6, 2019 (Sunday, 9:30 a.m.): Join us for the 4th annual Finish the Fight 5K (Christiansburg, VA). This 5K is ran on the Huckleberry Trail and starts at the Christiansburg Recreation Center. All proceeds go to two local women fighting cancer. | Web site.

  • December 24, 2018 (Monday, 1:00 p.m.): Frosty 5k & mile fun run plus Free Fun Run (at 12:30). The race starts and finishes on the soccer field behind the Food Lion on North Main Street in Blacksburg, VA, with the ma- jority of the race run on roads and paved bike paths. Web site | Results

  • November 22, 2018 (Thursday): The Blacksburg Turkey Trot (8:30 a.m.) and The Gobble Gobble Kids Dash (8:00 a.m.) in downtown Blacksburg, VA. The (first annual) Blacksburg Turkey Trot is the perfect mix of fun and fitness on Thanksgiving morning. The 5k course is designed with all skill levels of walkers and runners in mind!   • October 27, 2018 : Brush Mountain Breakdown. The 12 miler, 7 miler, and 5K fun run (11:30 AM) are all on trails inside Pandapas Park, which is part of the Jefferson National Forest. Each race takes place on trails within the Pandapas Pond system featuring challenging, hilly terrain and creek crossings | Results.

  • October 13, 2018 (9:00 a.m.): Parrot Strut 5K (Warm Hearth Village, Blacksburg, VA). There is also a 1-mile run at 9:45, in which dogs are allowed. 100% of the proceeds from the race benefit the Neighbors in Need fund, which benefits low-income seniors living on Warm Hearth's campus who need assistance with housing and healthcare. | Course Map | Results.

  • October 6, 2018 (10:00 a.m.): Brave Heart 5K (Bisset Park, Radford, VA). Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit the American Heart Association. | Results

  • June 16, 2018 (8:30 p.m.): Tenth Annual Downtown Sundown 5K (Blacksburg, VA). Run the streets and trails of Blacksburg at sunset! The Downtown Sundown 5k® starts and finishes on Draper Road in the heart of the Summer Solstice Street Festivalfeaturing crafts, live music, food, drink, and more. All runners must wear reflective clothing and carry a glowstick or LED light (provided). | Results

  • May 13, 2018 (Sunday 9:00 a.m.): Huckleberry Jam (Blacksburg, VA). The Huckleberry Jam is a 8-mile point-to-point race beginning at RunAbout Sports and utilizing the entire length of the eponymous rail trail, finishing at the Christiansburg Rec Center. (Last year it was 7.4 miles, but the Huckleberry Trail is longer now.) | Results
